The hidden 12" sub... Next Project

This was done a while ago.
This project was completed "back in the day" or so it seems. The whole design idea behind the project was to create a subwoofer that was totally hidden in the room. I came up with the idea after having read some information regarding crossover points and bass in general.
From what I read, at that time, sub-bass, or bass below 80hz is omni-directional. To use this idea to the fullest effect, I needed to design a hidden subwoofer. What good is omni-directional bass if you can see where it is coming from?

My design culminated with the usage of a left over Rockford Fosgate Punch XLC 12". It seems that I had gotten a pretty good deal on the subs from this guy a couple months prior, it's a shame he doesn't feel that way. (If he has any serious problem I'll gladly kick his ass for him... but I'm sure that will never have to come to pass.) In any case, 2 of the 12's had been put in my car and I had this one laying around. The box ended up being a small, sealed design, set for a downfiring configuration and it slid right under the center cushion of the couch. Check out the pics:

^---- Please take notice of the large metallic cylinder in the back, as it played its own special role in this project..... ----^

The following are a couple shots of the enclosure actually in the couch... for a test run I had a couple friends over and played some music for them. Those guys looked high and low and never found the sub. Lil' Mark came close as he peered under the sofa, but the downfiring configuration made the woofer invisible to him and more importantly, my dog. (See This page for more details on what my dog is capable of.)
