Pretty old...
This project deviated from everything I had ever tried. I had always methodically designed and drew out all of my enclosures and then built them. Always with wood... never anything else. (Please note this project was actually completed and ancient history by the time I made the cardboard enclosure seen earlier in this site.
I can't take exclusive credit for this project, as I had actually gotten the idea by viewing a guy named * Edited *(Link to site where I saw it.)web site. On his site, he described how he had gotten a pair of 8" speakers and made a speaker box out of a rubbermaid container. Well, the same day I read this, I had received a pair of Reactor 8" subs that I payed $6.99 for. ($0.99 for the subs, $6.00 for shipping) When I got home, I eagerly wanted to hear the subs... just for something to do.
Well much to my sha-grin, by the time I had actually even made time to start the project it was like 9 pm... so I hastily gathered up the materials for the job.

The enclosure was made with a small RubberMaid trash can and some polyfill. The amplifier used was a small one that was removed from a set of computer speakers with a sub and 2 satellites. I stuffed everything in the trash can and this is what it looked like:

I can't say the output was amazing, or even that it qulaified as an actual subwoofer, but it did make bass, and the neighbors heard it.... so did the Pizza guys that run the shop below my apartment. This was just more fun than anything...
